| House Ways & Means Acts Quickly

On Tuesday, January 19, the House Ways & Means Committee heard House Bill 2519 and took public testimony. This bill would make six modifications to current law in pension, State Workers' Compensation and Higher Education statutes to help survivors of police officers and fire fighters killed in the line-of-duty. Heart wrenching testimony was given by survivor's of police officers killed and the Lakewood Police Chief on the recent tragedies. The bill now awaits action in the House Rules Committee then all House of Representative members will vote. We expect this legislation to move quickly.
